Q: What does One EC do and why we are we doing it?
The One EC Recovery Project is a community based and community driven 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the long term recovery of Ellicott City, Maryland, with special focus on the Main Street Ellicott City community following the devastating damage caused by extensive flooding on July 30, 2016.
The One EC Recovery Project works to assist in the residential rebuilding and rehabilitation throughout the Historic Ellicott City community where there is still significant need for recovery. We work with residents and residential property owners in their long term recovery by assisting in the rebuilding of their homes with building supplies, goods, services, in-kind donations and labor.
Q: Who can apply for assistance through One EC?
Individual/household residents and/or residential property owners in the Ellicott City zip codes and/or the Tiber – Hudson watershed impacted by the flood of July 30, 2016 may apply.
Q: Can I apply as a resident even if am not the property owner?
Yes, you may apply as an individual/household resident or residential property owner as applicable to your loss.
Q: Will One EC be assisting property owners?
The One EC Recovery Project will only be assisting residential property owners.
Will One EC be assisting business owners and/or businesses?
The One EC Recovery Project is focused only on residential recovery and will not be assisting businesses.
Q: Is there a deadline to apply for assistance?
Yes. The Priority deadline for applications is Friday, March 3, 2017. The Final deadline for applications is Friday, May 26, 2017.
Q: Will One EC provide grants as assistance (similar to the ECStrong grants stewarded by the Ellicott City Partnership)?
No. The One EC Recovery Project will not give cash nor grants to our Clients. Our assistance is limited to repairs, referrals, replacement, and other service based help.
Q: If One EC collects cash donations, why are they not providing cash or grants to their Clients?
The One EC Recovery Project is receiving cash donations and other financial help which is used to fund repair efforts, material replacements, referrals, and other service based assistance. The One EC Recovery Project also collects in-kind donations and solicits volunteer help for specific projects.
Q: Do I have to live or own a property in Ellicott City to apply for assistance?
Yes. The One EC Recovery Project is a nonprofit whose assistance is focused to within the geographic area of Ellicott City. Our goal is to rebuild a prepared and resilient Ellicott City community by servicing in the Ellicott City zip codes and/or the Tiber – Hudson watershed impacted by the flood of July 30, 2016 with special focus on the Main Street Ellicott City community, in order to assist residents and property owners in their own recovery.
Q: If I have already received support from other assistance programs such as the Ellicott City Partnership, can I still apply?
Yes, you may apply for assistance through the One EC Recovery Project even if you have received ECStrong grants or other forms of assistance. Please include the assistance from ECP and any other financial or in-kind (services and materials) assistance you have received in your application. This information will be used to help ensure that you have applied for all resources available. The receipt of other resources does not exclude you from receiving assistance from the One EC Recovery Project.
Q: If my application is approved, how will the assistance process work?
Assistance provided to Clients through the One EC Recovery Project will be administered and coordinated by one of our Disaster Case Managers. A Disaster Case Manager will work with each Client to create a recovery plan specific to each individual in order to best assist in their long term recovery efforts.
Q: How do I apply for recovery assistance through the One EC Recovery Project?
If you are a resident or property owner still in need of assistance you can and download the One EC Recovery Project – Client Application Form. Applications are also available at Millworks located at 8098 Main Street, Ellicott City, MD. Those who pick up an application at Millworks are strongly encouraged to leave their names and contact information with the reception desk so that the One EC Recovery Project can more easily follow up and ensure that we receive your application.
Completed applications can be dropped off at Millworks, 8098 Main Street, Ellicott City, MD or mailed to One EC Recovery Project, c/o St. Paul Catholic Church, 3755 Saint Paul St., Ellicott City, MD 21043.
